Frequently Asked Questions

What are the next steps if we decide to move forward?
The first step is an initial free call, which can be booked here. This offers an opportunity to introduce ourselves, share any initial concerns, and discuss practical details.
From here, if appropriate, a second meeting is offered to gently introduce your child to the therapy space. This session may or may not include parents or carers and usually lasts one therapeutic hour (45–50 minutes).
If play therapy feels like the right next step, weekly sessions then follow. An initial block of 12–16 sessions is usually recommended, with regular opportunities to review and reflect together.
Will I know what happens in my child’s sessions?
Sessions are confidential in order to protect the child’s therapeutic space and specific details of play are not shared. However, themes, patterns, and general progress can be discussed during review meetings and through ongoing communication.
This helps parents and carers feel informed while respecting the child’s privacy. If a safeguarding concern arises, this would be shared appropriately in line with safeguarding responsibilities.
What if my child can’t attend a session?
I understand that life can be unpredictable, particularly when supporting children and families. Sessions can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice. Where less notice is given, the session fee still applies, as the time has been reserved specifically for your child.
How can I support my child while they are attending play therapy?
Children may be working through complex feelings that are not always easy to put into words. It can be helpful to not ask too many questions or expect explanations. Staying curious, offering reassurance, and keeping everyday routines steady can support your child while they attend therapy.
How much do you charge?
Fees are offered on a sliding scale and can be discussed during the initial consultation. Sessions start from £70.
What if I have a concern or would like to make a complaint?
Any concerns are encouraged to be raised directly with me in the first instance, as many can be resolved through open discussion. If needed, information about the formal complaints process is available via the official BAPT website.
