My Approach

Play therapy is offered in a way that centres the child and supports the wider relationships around them. This page gives an overview of how sessions are held and how support is offered throughout the therapeutic process.

Child-Centered Play Therapy

My therapeutic approach is rooted in child-centred play therapy, recognising play as a child’s natural way of communicating and making sense of their experiences.

A calm and pressure-free environment is offered, with a range of play materials available and no expectations placed on the child.

Within a consistent and supportive therapeutic relationship, children are supported to express themselves freely and develop greater emotional awareness.

Working Together with Parents/Carers

Parental and carer involvement is an important part of my work, with regular opportunities to reflect together and consider how best to support the child beyond the therapy room

I offer parent and carers guidance and support support at the beginning, throughout, and at the end of the therapeutic journey. These regular review meetings create space to explore your child’s needs, reflect on progress, and consider how best to support them within and beyond the therapy room.

School Collaboration

I work with teachers and school staff to build shared understanding and strengthen the support around the child. With appropriate consent, communication focuses on general themes and helpful ways of supporting the child, rather than details of the therapeutic work, ensuring the child’s confidentiality is respected. This collaborative approach supports consistency across home and school and helps the child feel understood and supported in both settings.
